Rain, Hail, and Strong Winds Recorded Across Multiple UAE Regions
Several parts of the UAE experienced hail, thunderstorms, and heavy rain with more showers expected this week.
On Monday, October 12, various areas in the UAE witnessed significant weather events including hail, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall. These conditions affected eastern and inland regions, creating dramatic scenes such as hailstones bouncing on desert roads, muddy water rushing through valleys, and lightning illuminating the sky.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast additional rain showers through the end of the week. These showers may extend into inland parts of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Dhafra, accompanied by thunder, gusty winds, and blowing dust. The weather conditions varied across locations, with some areas experiencing only rain while others faced hail and thunderstorms.
Social media videos captured motorists driving on wet roads, hailstones scattered on roadways, and people standing in the rain. In some places, the heavy downpours caused muddy water to flow over roads and low-lying areas, increasing the risk of flash floods.
In response to the unsettled weather, the NCM issued safety advisories, including a flash flood warning for mountainous regions.
