Sharjah Introduces Instant Digital Certificates for Fire Damage Documentation
Sharjah Civil Defence now issues free digital damage certificates immediately after house fires to aid residents with insurance and repairs.
The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has launched a new online service that enables residents affected by house fires to obtain a digital damage status proof certificate immediately after the fire is extinguished. This service is provided free of charge and eliminates the need for tenants or homeowners to submit requests in person or visit any authority.
The certificate serves to officially document the damages sustained, facilitating insurance claims and structural restoration processes for the affected families. To apply for the certificate online, residents must provide a valid Emirates ID or unified number, the registered mobile number linked to the property owner or tenant, and details of the incident including the fire date, location, and the Civil Defence incident report reference number issued by the responding team.
Earlier this year, Sharjah announced the formation of a committee tasked with overseeing and eliminating violations to reduce fire risks in commercial and industrial warehouses. The committee conducts comprehensive inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and enforces strict penalties for non-compliance, particularly regarding the storage of hazardous and flammable materials.
Sharjah Civil Defence is also advancing fire prevention through technology. Since early 2025, drones equipped with thermal cameras have been deployed to assist firefighting efforts in high-rise buildings. These drones help identify the source and intensity of heat in large spaces, enabling quicker and more informed decisions to control fires.
The drones weigh 27 kilograms and can operate continuously for 12 hours on battery or electricity. They are equipped with night lights, heat sensors, and a parachute system that allows safe emergency landings to prevent crashes in case of malfunction.
