DubaiNow App Integrates Ejari and DEWA Services for Tenants

Dubai tenants can now handle Ejari contracts and DEWA payments through the DubaiNow app, streamlining rental and utility procedures.

DubaiNow App Integrates Ejari and DEWA Services for Tenants

Dubai residents can now manage key rental processes, including Ejari registration and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) payments, via the DubaiNow app, simplifying the rental experience.

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced an enhanced Ejari service on Monday that enables tenants and landlords to create, renew, cancel tenancy contracts, and pay DEWA security deposits all within a single digital platform.

This upgrade consolidates multiple rental-related steps, allowing users to complete contract registration and activate electricity and water services without switching between different services.

Streamlined Rental Procedures

Previously, tenants had to complete tenancy contract registration and utility arrangements separately. The improved DubaiNow app now allows users to initiate and register new rental contracts, receive Ejari certificates instantly after approval, and pay DEWA security deposits in one integrated process.

Additionally, tenants can renew leases or cancel contracts through the app. The system uses UAE PASS for secure authentication, connecting landlords and tenants digitally.

How the New Ejari Service Works

  • Create and register new tenancy contracts via DubaiNow.
  • Obtain the Ejari certificate immediately upon contract approval.
  • Renew existing rental agreements digitally.
  • Cancel tenancy contracts through the app.
  • Pay DEWA security deposits to activate electricity and water services as part of the same process.

Officials Highlight Benefits

Mohammed Ali Al Badwawi, CEO of the Real Estate Registration Sector at DLD, emphasized that the service integrates various tenancy procedures on a trusted government platform. He stated, "In cooperation with our strategic partners, we continue to simplify procedures and create a more integrated, seamless experience for customers by bringing the tenancy journey together through a trusted government platform."

Dr Moza Suwaidan, Executive Director of the Digital Applications and Platforms Sector at the Digital Dubai Government Establishment, noted that the initiative aims to reduce steps and save time for users, improving the overall experience.

DEWA Integration Simplifies Utility Activation

The integration of DEWA services into the Ejari process allows tenants moving into new properties to arrange electricity and water connections more efficiently. Customers can pay the DEWA security deposit within the same digital journey used for tenancy registration.

Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA, said this integration enables customers to activate utility services through a unified digital process, reducing time and effort.

Impact on Dubai's Rental Market

The launch coincides with significant activity in Dubai's residential rental sector. In the first quarter of 2026, rental contracts valued at approximately Dh32.2 billion were registered, including 118,385 new contracts and 135,607 renewals.

This volume highlights the importance of streamlining tenancy transactions. By combining contract management and utility arrangements, the upgraded DubaiNow service supports Dubai's Services 360 policy, Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and Dubai Digital Strategy.

For tenants and landlords, the main advantage is a more convenient process with fewer separate steps when signing, renewing, or ending rental agreements and setting up utilities.
