Sharjah Police Enhance Security and Traffic Plans for 2026 Book Fair
Sharjah Police implement strengthened security and traffic controls ahead of the 2026 Sharjah International Book Fair opening.
Sharjah Police have intensified their security and traffic management efforts in preparation for the Sharjah International Book Fair, set to open on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The measures include deploying patrols on roads surrounding the event venue and stationing security staff inside to oversee crowd control and visitor safety.
Brigadier Dr Jassim bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support at Sharjah Police, outlined the comprehensive preparations aimed at accommodating the anticipated large turnout and ensuring smooth traffic flow both around and within the exhibition area.
The strategy involves organizing traffic on access roads to the fair, with police patrols actively monitoring nearby routes to alleviate congestion and respond promptly to any incidents. Within the venue, security personnel will supervise visitor movement, manage crowd density, and maintain order, especially in high-traffic zones.
Key focus areas include entrances, exits, corridors, and connecting bridges, where efforts will be made to prevent bottlenecks and facilitate safe, convenient movement for attendees. The enhanced arrangements are designed to improve access and circulation compared to previous editions of the event.
Coordination among various authorities and stakeholders has been emphasized to ensure the event runs efficiently. Brigadier Al Suwaidi highlighted the ongoing importance of collaborative security planning for major events in Sharjah that draw visitors from across the UAE and internationally.
The collective preparations involve multiple agencies working together to implement operational, traffic, and security protocols, aiming to deliver a secure and well-organized experience for both visitors and exhibitors at the book fair.
