UAE Ministry Reports August Prices for 33 Essential Goods

The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has disclosed the average and lowest prices for 33 essential goods across 13 retail outlets for August 2026. This data is part of the ministry's ongoing price monitoring initiative conducted through its "Essential Goods Prices Platform."

The digital platform is designed to enhance market transparency, improve price regulation, and facilitate automated price tracking to provide accurate data on price trends within the country.

The August report includes a variety of products such as rice, flour, cooking oils, eggs, milk, dairy items, legumes, chicken, bread, and sugar in different package sizes.

Average Prices of Key Commodities

• The average cost of a 1kg pack of Basmati rice was approximately Dh16.62, while a 5kg pack averaged Dh45.53.
• Flour prices averaged Dh7.76 for a 1kg pack of first- and second-grade flour, and Dh12.26 for a 2kg pack.
• Dairy products included fresh full-fat milk at Dh3.91 for 0.5 litres and Dh9.46 for 1 litre; a 170g yoghurt container averaged Dh1.97.
• Cooking oils varied with canola oil priced at Dh15.86 for 1 litre and Dh23.97 for 1.5 litres; corn oil was Dh13.85 for 0.75 litres and Dh24.92 for 1.5 litres; sunflower oil averaged Dh19.31 for 1 litre and Dh35.70 for 3 litres.
• A 30-egg pack cost Dh23.05 for brown eggs and Dh22.97 for white eggs.
• Fresh whole chicken was priced at Dh18.94 for 800 grams and Dh22.97 for 1 kilogram.
• Pure white sugar averaged Dh8.75 for 1 kilogram and Dh10.94 for 2 kilograms.

Lowest Prices Recorded

• The least expensive 170g yoghurt container was sold at Dh1.42.
• Fresh full-fat milk (0.5 litres) was available at a minimum price of Dh3.22.
• Dry and canned white chickpeas (0.5kg) were priced as low as Dh3.24.
• Sliced white bread (0.6kg) had a lowest recorded price of Dh4.47.
• Dry and canned fava beans (450g) were available at Dh4.93.
