Dubai's Museum of the Future to Temporarily Close from September 1 for Upgrades

Dubai's Museum of the Future will shut its doors temporarily starting September 1 as it prepares to introduce a new generation of interactive experiences in time for its fifth anniversary next year.

The announcement was made via the museum's social media channels on August 25, encouraging visitors to explore the current exhibitions before the closure. An Instagram reel urged residents and tourists to "See it before the 1st," highlighting the opportunity to visit prior to the temporary shutdown.

Although the closure begins on September 1, the museum had previously stated that visitors could access the current displays until mid-September. Following the closure, work will commence on developing innovative experiences inspired by ideas and suggestions collected globally.

Earlier this year, the museum launched a worldwide call for proposals, inviting the public to contribute concepts for future exhibits. This initiative garnered over 1,000 ideas submitted through various social media platforms.

The forthcoming exhibits aim to provide visitors with more engaging and interactive ways to understand the opportunities and challenges anticipated in the decades ahead. These experiences will focus on the major scientific and technological transformations expected to influence economies, societies, and daily life.

Mohammad Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Museum of the Future, emphasized the museum's unique mission, stating that unlike traditional museums that focus on the past, this institution explores potential futures and the possibilities created by science, technology, and innovation. He noted, "The future is not something we wait for, it is something we create through knowledge, imagination, and action."

Further details about the new experiences and programs planned for the museum's next phase will be announced in the coming months as preparations continue for the 2027 relaunch.
