UAE May Experience Above-Average Rainfall Starting October Amid El Niño
Meteorologists predict increased rainfall in the UAE from October to January but warn against expecting extreme weather solely due to El Niño.
Weather forecasts suggest that the United Arab Emirates could receive higher than usual rainfall from October through January, coinciding with the country's cooler and wetter season. This projection comes as the El Niño phenomenon intensifies, according to an expert from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the NCM, emphasized that while some long-range weather models indicate wetter conditions, this does not guarantee extreme storms or flooding. He explained that El Niño alone does not determine the severity of rainfall, as local atmospheric pressure systems and other weather factors play a crucial role in shaping the UAE's weather patterns.
Residents are advised to consider these forecasts as general guidance rather than a direct prediction of heavy rainfall or flooding events. The exact volume of precipitation expected remains uncertain, and ongoing monitoring of weather developments will provide clearer insights as the season progresses.
