UAE Forecast: Afternoon Showers and Rising Temperatures with Dusty Winds

The UAE is expected to experience fair to partly cloudy weather on Thursday, August 27, with a possibility of rainfall in the afternoon, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The rain is anticipated due to the formation of convective clouds moving eastward and southward during the afternoon. Winds will shift from light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly, becoming fresh to strong at times. These winds, blowing at speeds between 15 and 30 km/h and reaching up to 45 km/h, are likely to cause blowing dust.

Sea conditions will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Temperatures across the country are forecast to rise, with some areas reaching highs of 49ºC and lows dropping to 27ºC. Major cities will experience the following temperature ranges: Dubai with a high of 43ºC and low of 33ºC, Abu Dhabi with a high of 46ºC and low of 32ºC, and Sharjah with a high of 44ºC and low of 31ºC.

The NCM noted that moisture drawn from the Sea of Oman, combined with increasing temperatures and the influence of the eastern mountains, is expected to generate local convective clouds over parts of the UAE during the afternoon. These clouds may produce rainfall of varying intensity.

Weather conditions will also be influenced by an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, along with the impact of a weak upper-air low-pressure system.
