UAE Drivers Can Reduce Black Points via Accident-Free Day Campaign
UAE motorists can lower black points on their licenses by participating in the Accident-Free Day campaign on August 31.
The United Arab Emirates has launched an Accident-Free Day campaign allowing drivers to reduce black points on their licenses by committing to safe driving practices.
Registration for the campaign began on Monday, August 17, ahead of the main event scheduled for August 31, which coincides with the start of the new school year. The initiative is organized by the Federal Traffic Council in collaboration with police departments across the UAE.
Drivers interested in participating can register through a link provided on the Ministry of Interior’s official social media accounts. They can also scan a QR code available on the campaign’s Instagram post and log in using their UAE Pass credentials.
After registering, motorists must accept the campaign’s safety commitments, sign a pledge, and agree to the terms and conditions. A participation certificate will be emailed to the address linked to their UAE Pass account.
However, registration alone does not guarantee benefits. Participants are required to adhere to the campaign’s safety guidelines and avoid any traffic violations during the campaign period.
Safety Commitments for Drivers
The campaign emphasizes fundamental road safety measures that drivers must observe throughout the day. These include maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, yielding to pedestrians, and wearing seat belts.
Additionally, drivers must comply with speed limits, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, stay within their designated lanes, and give priority to emergency vehicles. Ensuring the vehicle is safe and roadworthy before driving is also part of the commitment.
Drivers who meet all the campaign requirements will be eligible to have four black points removed from their driving records.

The campaign is timed to coincide with the first day of the new school year when traffic volumes typically increase, especially near schools and residential areas. Authorities advise motorists to allow extra travel time, remain patient in congested zones, and be vigilant for children, pedestrians, and school buses.
