Fujairah Police Crack Down on Reckless Teen Driving and Night Gatherings

As the summer holidays near their end across the UAE, Fujairah police have increased their presence and enforcement efforts to address risky behaviors among teenagers, particularly reckless driving and late-night gatherings. Authorities are also urging parents to exercise greater supervision over their children during this period.

The Masafi Comprehensive Police Station, in collaboration with the Department of Media and Public Relations at Fujairah Police General Headquarters, has launched a focused awareness campaign targeting unsafe driving practices, unauthorized group assemblies, and dangerous stunts on public roads. This campaign is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal and disruptive activities that tend to rise during the summer vacation.

Police officials noted a significant increase in complaints from local residents concerned about groups of teenagers assembling late at night in public and residential areas. These gatherings often involve stunt driving and loud disturbances, raising safety and noise pollution issues.

A senior Fujairah Police official explained, "The late-night gatherings reported in residential zones and rural bypasses create severe public safety concerns, ranging from extreme noise pollution and property disturbance to life-threatening street racing. Our targeted campaign is a direct response to resident feedback, designed to restore quiet and safety to our neighborhoods before these unsafe practices result in avoidable tragedy."

In line with this initiative, police patrols have stepped up surveillance and increased visibility at known hangout locations and quieter bypass roads to prevent unauthorized meetups from escalating. Authorities emphasized that traffic laws, including speed limits and seatbelt requirements, will be strictly enforced. A zero-tolerance approach is being applied to stunt driving, unlicensed vehicle operation, and any actions endangering other road users.

Fujairah Police also highlighted that law enforcement alone cannot resolve seasonal youth misconduct and called on families to take greater responsibility. The official added, "Preventing dangerous road behaviour begins with parental accountability. We strongly advise guardians not to grant car keys to unlicensed teens or turn a blind eye to late-night activities. By enforcing boundaries at home and prioritising road safety, parents play a pivotal role in keeping our community secure."

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious late-night gatherings, illegal street racing, or reckless driving through official police channels to aid ongoing safety efforts.
